Many generations of Sarajevans used to visit this area by cable car, which ran from Bistrik to the Olympic Bobsled tracks. The cable car was devastated during the war, and it is renovated at 2018.

Today, the area is accessible by cable car, by foot or by a 20-minute car/taxi ride along the road to Jahorina to reach Brus. 
Known as “the lungs of Sarajevo,” Trebević is the closest mountain that is reachable via the cable car from the heart of Stari Grad (Old Town), from the neighborhood of Bistrik.

Walking from the cable summit station (which will soon see the reconstruction of the once-popular restaurant, Vidikovac), either on the road or along the marked mountain paths, will lead you in many different directions where various activities await you.
With ample parking, a picnic area and several restaurants, Brus is an ideal starting and finishing point for exploring Trebević, with numerous activities on disposal. 

Brus Recreational Sports Center has a children’s playground, water walking balls on the lake, paintball fields, courts for basketball, volleyball and futsal. Here you can rent mountain bikes and quads, there is a wide variety of food, as well as a small zoo and a place for barbecuing.

From here you can start your 500-meter ascent to the peak of Trebević (1,629 meters). The trail is well-marked and it takes about 2 hours of great hiking through pine and spruce forests with beautiful views of Mountain Romanija and Bukovik
At the top, you will see Sarajevo, all the outlying towns and villages and plenty of stunning mountain ranges. Explore this great area which is so close, and yet so far away from the busy life of Sarajevo!

If you follow the road to Trebević via Vraca or Širokača, you will come to Sunnyland, the amusement park for children and adults, whose main attraction is the adrenaline-pumping Alpine Coaster, which was installed on the slope facing Sarajevo.

Trebević is also home to the protected rock climbing area, Via Ferrata Bijela Stijena, which is a challenge for mountain climbers, while also offering a gorgeous view of Sarajevo.
The Trebević hotel, Level Up, offers some extreme fun with its 350-meter zip line, as well as a shorter one for children.

The bob sled and luge track was constructed on Trebević for the 1984 Winter Olymics. Destroyed during the war in the 1990s, it is now decorated with graffiti and is a popular place for walking, running, taking photographs and doing extreme sports like downhill mountain biking.

Trebević is also home to a Austro-Hungarian fortification, the Bistrik tower on Colina Kapa, An observatory, which was built next to it in 1969, was destroyed during the last war.

Trebević serves as habitat for several hundred varieties of plants, many of which are endemic, and is home to numerous species of animals.
