It is very difficult to convey your impressions and enthusiasm from a mountain tour. As much as we try to conjure up all the beauty, it is in vain. Last summer, when we were on the Trebević ferrata on Bijela stijena for the first time, we tried to explain to the children what it all looks like, but we were unable to convey our impressions. All we had to do was promise them that we would go together again at the first opportunity.
We headed towards Trebević a little after 10 o'clock. As Bijela stijena is close to the city, we did not start too early because we hoped that the sun would warm us at least a little and make the climbing more pleasant. We parked the car in front of the PD Napredak lodge and slowly headed towards our starting point. From the lodge to the entrance to the ferrata takes about 15 min. As we mentioned before when climbing Via ferrata, it is mandatory to use protective equipment: a helmet, a mountaineering belt and a ferrata set (you can also use an auxiliary rope with two carabiners). We put on our gear and the climbing could begin.
If all safety procedures are followed it is not dangerous at all. However, one must move slowly and carefully because this part of the rock is constantly in the shade and quite humid and slippery. It took us a little less than an hour to reach the top. Then followed a well-deserved "sweet" break, a little rest and enjoying the beautiful view of the whole of Sarajevo. We thought about how a man doesn't need much to be happy and enjoy nature. Just a few miles below us was the city center, crowds, noise and dirt. And we ate chocolate on top of Bijela Stijena and looked at the smiling faces of our children - really priceless.
This time we did not go to the top of Trebević. We returned by a steep path between two rocks to the entrance to the ferrata, and then along a marked path all the way to Napredak lodge where we parked the car.
